Building a website or an online store no longer has to start with a blank screen. In its September 2026 product updates, Squarespace introduced several tools that change how a site gets created and how you get paid on it.
Here is what they announced, according to their own blog, and what you should ask yourself before getting too excited.
Blueprint AI: a multi page site from a description
According to Squarespace, Blueprint AI now builds a multi page site from what you tell it about your business. You say what you are building and pick your brand personality, colors and fonts. The platform mentions upgraded imagery across more than 1,000 industries, a full preview before publishing and the ability to refine everything in the editor.
It is a good starting point, but only a starting point. A generated site knows little about your neighborhood, your customers or what makes them choose you.
Other updates this month
- Image Studio: create images from a description, apply a studio look to photos you already have or generate sets of images that match each other.
- SMS campaigns: text messages from the platform, with name personalization, links and stats on deliveries, clicks and opt outs. Squarespace says business verification, consent collection and automatic opt out are built in.
Payments: local currency and Quick Pay
Two updates touch money directly:
- Local currency checkout: shoppers see prices and pay in their own currency, while you keep receiving payouts in yours. It is meant for customers in other countries.
- Quick Pay in the Squarespace app: you charge any amount from your phone, such as a one off service, a tip or an add on, without creating a product first. Payments show up in the Orders tab.
What it means for a Monterrey business
If you sell to customers in the United States, for example with a store that ships across the border, letting the buyer see prices in their own currency can remove doubts at checkout. If you offer services, like a workshop, a consultation or a class, charging an extra from your phone without building a product listing saves steps. These are reasonable ideas, not promised results.
What an AI tool does not do for you
- Decide your message. What you sell, to whom and why they pick you is your job. AI fills spaces, but it does not know your customer.
- Take care of your local presence. Your Business Profile, your reviews and your contact details are still what gets you found.
- Keep the site alive. Outdated prices, hours and photos cost you trust, no matter who built the page.
- Measure and improve. A published site is the beginning, not the end.
Five questions before switching platforms
- Who will own my domain, my copy and my photos if I ever move?
- What does it really cost per month, with VAT and payment fees?
- Can I charge with the methods my customers actually use in Mexico?
- Who helps me if something breaks on a Friday afternoon?
- Does my site load fast on a phone with mobile data?
If you do not have a clear answer to one of them, that already tells you where to pay attention.
How to decide without overthinking it
Start with what you need today: to be found, to get messages or to get orders? If you only want a clear presence with contact details and services, a simple, well built site is enough. If you sell products, you need inventory, shipping and payments that really work. To compare paths, this article on online store or social media may help.
We build websites and stores made for your business: Essential from 4,750 pesos plus VAT and 1,050 per month, Business from 9,450 plus 1,600 per month and Store from 19,700 plus 2,650 per month. You focus on selling and we take care of the site.
Tell us what you sell and we will tell you what fits, in plain language and with no commitment.
